Our 2 Wheeled Machines and Gear

Let's see, well, the bike tour supply list is well researched and pretty extensive... basically it's front and rear panniers, handlebar bags, tool bags, and lots of little things stuffed inside. Very minimal is the key though, compact, and prepared for roadside repairs. We each carried probably about 65-70 lbs of stuff, which may seem crazy but is fairly tight considering the length of trip and the fact that we carried everything, and i mean, **everything** we needed for half a year basically. A detailed list of gear is comin' up for anyone interested in comparing lists or getting ideas for their own trip...

Amy rode her custom built Kelly cyclocross bike
Blonde woman's face
an amazing green machine outfitted with Paul levers and a mix of Xt, Ultegra and Avid components...

Amy first got stuck with a Bianchi San Remo, that some douchebag bike shop employee sold her even though it didn't fit. She's much happier with her Kelly ofcourse, and despite the saddle soreness due to a terrible Terry seat, Amy's rear is tough and she's not discouraged -- with plans to do some more long distance touring in the future no doubt- maybe New zealand after figuring out nursing school and moving to Seattle with her buddy Cristophuur...

Lucie rode her old custom built 70's Holdsworth bi
Black-haired woman's face
a trusted, steel, lugged frame! Jackie is her name. Upgraded with Phil hubs and Paul brakes..

Lucie and Jackie have trekked together solo cross country from Seattle to Philly, then from Oakland down the coast of Baja, and around the West Coast on shorter trips (Seattle/Portland/Nevada City/Bay Area). Lucie loves Jackie, and Jackie loves Lucie ~ it's very simple. Lucie wants to live on her bike, though is searching for a somewhat permanent 'home base' in the US. maybe Oakland, maybe Austin area, maybe Portland. Hmmm.
