Well, after much planning, dreaming, second-thoughts and more dreaming-- we decided to do it. And why not? Our main reason
was that we love our bikes. Bicycles are a supreme form of transportation and fun, they are simple and amazing machines. The
sense of satisfaction of traveling and living on your bike is indescribable.
We also wanted to learn Spanish and experience the culture of Latin America at a sloooow pace of, well, about 10-12 miles
per hour- which is a typical leisurely bike pace, fully loaded.
Seeing a beautiful interesting part of the world on bike is the ultimate travel experience. Living simply and frugally.
Also, whenever we talked to people about the bike trip they looked at us longingly and usually expressed a wistful regret
of "I wish I'd done that while I had the time"...
Well, we don't ever want to feel like that, and now's as perfect a time as any other!!!
There's something amazing about looking at a map and tracing your fingers along a route you've ridden using your sheer
musclepower...
